CM Omar Abdullah Inaugurates Rs 30-Crore Sports Facilities in Srinagar

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister on Wednesday inaugurated a set of upgraded sports facilities at the Sher-i-Kashmir Multi-Sports Activity Centre in Gindun, Rajbagh, Srinagar, in a major expansion of sports infrastructure in the Union Territory.

Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, along with Sports Minister Satish Sharma and Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Asogi, during the inauguration of upgraded sports facilities at the Sher-i-Kashmir Multi-Sports Activity Centre, Gindun Rajbagh, Srinagar, on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

Developed at a cost of more than Rs 30 crore, the newly inaugurated facilities include an Olympic-sized 10-lane swimming pool measuring 50 × 25 metres, an all-weather training pool designed for beginners and toddlers, and a modern gymnastics hall equipped to international standards.

The facilities are aimed at increasing grassroots participation in aquatic sports and gymnastics while improving access to professional coaching and structured training programmes for young athletes.

The upgraded infrastructure is also expected to provide a platform for developing sporting talent and preparing athletes to compete at national and international levels.

Sports Minister Satish Sharma and Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Asogi were also present during the inauguration.
