Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the group had targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh with several drones, claiming the attack disrupted air traffic.
Saree, in a statement posted on X, also claimed that two operations were carried out against Abha International Airport and Khamis Mushait Air Base using ballistic missiles and drones. He said the attacks disrupted air traffic at the airport and caused damage to the military facility.
In a separate statement, Saree claimed that Houthi forces targeted three military camps — Dagharir in Jizan, Aakifah in Asir and Al-Mawsim in Jizan — with a large number of ballistic missiles and drones.
The claims came as the Saudi-led coalition said it had intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the Houthis towards the Riyadh area.
Coalition spokesman Brig Gen Turki al-Maliki said on X that the missile was intercepted north of Riyadh after being launched by what he described as the “terrorist Houthi militia”.
Al-Maliki said coalition forces had also tracked the missile’s launch platform using intelligence systems while it was in the skies over Sanaa, Yemen’s capital.
“We are tracking the launch platform with the Coalition’s intelligence system in the skies over Sanaa, and we will destroy it,” he said.
