This will be the first meeting between the two leaders since the Pahalgam attack in April, in which 26 people, including three from Bengal, were killed.

According to media reports, the meeting holds political relevance, with possible discussions around opposition strategy ahead of the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament.

Quoting officials, local news agency KINS reported that the Chief Minister’s visit is part of a broader outreach plan aimed at promoting Jammu and Kashmir as a safe tourist destination. “The idea is to assure tourists and travel operators that Jammu and Kashmir is open, safe, and welcoming. Bengal continues to be an important market for Kashmir’s tourism sector,” they said.
