SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is scheduled to introduce two bills in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Monday proposing amendments to laws governing the salaries and allowances of sitting legislators and pensions of former members.
According to supplementary business circulated by the Assembly Secretariat, the first bill seeks to amend the Jammu & Kashmir State Legislature Members’ Salaries and Allowances Act, 1960.
The second legislation proposes amendments to the Jammu & Kashmir State Legislature Members Pension Act, 1984.
Both bills are listed for introduction by Abdullah during Monday’s proceedings of the Assembly.
The supplementary business does not provide further details on the proposed changes to the salary, allowances or pension provisions.
The bills are being brought during the ongoing Assembly session, which is scheduled to continue until September 30.
