SRINAGAR: BJP legislators protested against Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather on Monday, entering the Well of the House and raising slogans demanding that he vacate the chair.
The protest followed BJP MLA from Udhampur East R.S. Pathania informing the House that the party had submitted a notice seeking Rather’s removal from the post.
BJP members gathered in the Well and shouted, “Kursi Chhodo, Kursi Chhodo, Speaker Sahab”, while papers were thrown towards the Chair during the disruption.
The commotion continued for several minutes, with marshals attempting to maintain order as members of the treasury and opposition benches engaged in the noisy proceedings.
