SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, while presenting the budget on Friday announced a series of welfare initiatives aimed at empowering women and boosting economic growth.
A key highlight of the budget is the government’s decision to waive bus fares for women using government transport services. The move is expected to improve mobility and ease financial strain for women across the region.
In another major announcement, the government has increased marriage assistance for eligible beneficiaries from Rs 50,000 to Rs 70,000. The enhanced aid is aimed at providing greater financial relief to families in need.
To support women entrepreneurs, the government will also extend funding to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) owned by women. The initiative seeks to promote financial independence and economic empowerment.
