SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday strongly condemned the killing of a minor girl in central Kashmir’s Budgam district and assured full government support to ensure exemplary punishment for those found guilty.
The Chief Minister described the incident as “shocking and deeply distressing” and expressed grief over the death of the young girl, whose body was recovered from a field in Galwanpora village on Sunday morning after she had gone missing since Saturday.
In a statement, Abdullah conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family and expressed solidarity with them during the time of grief.
Condemning the incident in strong terms, he said the tragedy should serve as a moment of reflection for society. He said while the concerned agencies investigate the circumstances surrounding the murder, there was also a need for serious introspection over the safety of children.
The Chief Minister reiterated his government’s commitment to justice and said all necessary support would be extended to the investigating agencies to ensure those responsible are brought to justice in accordance with the law.
