CM Omar Inaugurates Rs 5.25 Crore Development Projects in Baramulla

   

SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited Baramulla on Tuesday and chaired a high-level meeting assessing the district’s progress in project execution and implementation of government schemes.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary, Ministers Sakina Itoo, Javed Rana, Javed Ahmad Dar, Satish Sharma, DDC Chairperson Safina Beig, legislators from Baramulla, Sopore, Pattan, Uri, and Wagoora-Kreeri, Additional Chief Secretary Dheeraj Gupta, heads of departments, and senior district officers.

Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa presented sector-wise achievements and ongoing projects, highlighting progress in power, health, education, rural development, agriculture, and allied sectors. The Chief Minister was briefed on the utilisation of funds under the District Capex programme.

During his visit, Omar Abdullah virtually inaugurated developmental projects worth Rs 5.25 crore, including: 1×6.3 MVA Receiving Station at Kalantra (Rs 1.84 crore), 3/11 KV 1×10 MVA Receiving Station at Bharahampora, Rafiabad (Rs 2.73 crore), Development of footpaths along the National Highway from Post Office to Carriappa Park, Baramulla ( Rs 0.67 crore)

The meeting also discussed constituency-wise development priorities. The Chief Minister assured that all genuine demands would be considered on merit. Key directions included: Identification of alternate land for the Industrial Estate, Expansion of GMC Baramulla, Transfer of TRC Salamabad to the Tourism Department, Formulation of DPRs for the Drung Reservoir and multi-level car parking at Tangmarg, Completion of the Tangmarg Administrative Complex, Development of an alternate road to Gulmarg via Baba Reshi by Forest and RB Departments, Preparation of DPRs for Baramulla Administrative Complex, decongestion and expansion of the Fruit Mandi, and creation of a district-level land bank.

Highlighting youth empowerment, the Chief Minister stressed revitalising Mission YUVA, with proactive involvement of JK Bank to promote entrepreneurship.

Omar Abdullah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development, emphasising inter-departmental coordination and time-bound execution of projects to ensure maximum public benefit.
