CM Omar Launches Rs 84 Cr Development Projects in Ganderbal

   

SRINAGAR: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah on Tuesday inaugurated and laid foundation stones for development projects worth Rs 8,440.94 lakh (Rs 84.41 crore) in central kashmir’s Ganderbal district, marking a major investment in healthcare, sanitation, water supply, roads and urban infrastructure.

Among the key works inaugurated were Rs 770 lakh for beautification and development of Ganderbal town and Rs 750.78 lakh for construction and widening of the road from Bus Adda to District Hospital, including improvements at Mirani Chowk. A CT scan machine worth Rs 840 lakh was also inaugurated at District Hospital Ganderbal to enhance diagnostic facilities. In addition, a 4.5 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant costing Rs 1,999.20 lakh under Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) 2.0 was commissioned to strengthen sanitation infrastructure.

Several projects were inaugurated electronically, including Water Supply Schemes at Urpash Naderbagh (Rs 679.14 lakh), Buderkund (Rs 399 lakh) and Manasbal (Rs 130 lakh). Road upgradation works amounting to Rs 1,288.40 lakh and school upgradation projects worth Rs 902.69 lakh were also e-inaugurated.

Foundation stones were laid electronically for the construction of inner link roads from Treeza Safapora to Lar at a cost of Rs 302.11 lakh, and canal road development works in Kohistan Colony estimated at Rs 379.62 lakh.

Officials said the projects are aimed at improving essential public services, strengthening urban infrastructure and enhancing healthcare and civic amenities across the district. The initiatives are expected to improve connectivity, expand access to safe drinking water and sanitation, and upgrade educational and medical facilities for residents.
