Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday ordered judicial inquiry to probe the Shopian killings. “It has become obligatory now to ask a retired judge to investigate Shopian killings,” Chief Minister said while answering the discussion on an adjournment motion moved by the principal opposition party PDP and CPI(M) early in the day.

The Chief Minister accepted that mishandlings happened in Shopian.  He said that the statements issued on the Shopian killings on every passing day only helped in mishandling the matter.

“I am still not satisfied about the facts which have reached me,” CM said adding “Two motorcyclists, 5 people, 4 killed, 1 injured. I only know these things. Yes I am convinced only that the fourth was a militant.”

“But this does not prove that his three companions were also militants,” Omar added.
