Chief Minister, Ms Mehbooba Mufti has felicitated the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of the holy month of Ramzan.

“With the start of the holy month of Ramzan, I extend felicitations to the people of my State,” the Chief Minister said in her message, according to an official spokesperson.

She said Ramzan fast teaches us to practice piety, self-discipline, self-control, sacrifice, tolerance, justice and empathy for the less fortunate in society. “Let us reflect on these lessons during the 30 days fasting period,” she said.

Ms Mehbooba urged for heeding the true Islamic teachings of peace, unity and integrity for the larger good of the mankind. “I pray to Almighty Allah to make this sacred month a positively new beginning in our individual and collective lives,” she said adding; “I wish and pray that this month becomes a harbinger of peace and prosperity for Jammu and Kashmir and its people and ends their miseries.”

“This is also a time to remember our elders, sisters and brothers in distress and reach out to them with whatever possible could be done,” Ms Mehbooba said.

The Chief Minister has issued instructions to the Power Development Department (PDD), PHE Department and The CA&PD Department to ensure adequate supply of electricity, drinking water and rations during the holy month. She also called for maintaining cleanliness in and around the shrines and mosques in the State, the spokesperson added.

She also asked the Traffic Police to ensure hassle-free traffic movement especially at the time of Iftaar when there is maximum traffic flow on the roads.
