SRINAGAR

Scores of parents Monday alleged coaching centres located in Civil Lines area of Srinagar city are taking students and parents for a ride. Parents said that more than 300 male and female students are clubbed together in small rooms in tuition centres which is irritating.

A delegation of parents told CNS that the two tuition centres located in Parrey Pora Srinagar have become the sources of nausance for students. “The students are being treated as cattle and forced to huddle together to attend the classes. I was shocked to find my ward sitting at a place where even White Board was not visible to him,” one of the parents from Chadoora said.

They said that despite charging exorbitant fees from students, these tuition centres have miserably failed to provide standard teaching and other infrastructural facilities which are pre-requisites for good environment for education.

“We were happy over the decision of Directorate of School Education for tightening noose against tuition centres but these Coaching Centres even deceive the authorities,” father of a student Arshid Ahmed said  adding that government should make law that could force coaching centres to teach only 25 students per batch.

When contacted, Director School Education, Mir Tariq told CNS that he will inspect the functioning of the coaching centres personally and will talk to the students. “A few days ago I send a team of officers who even listened the lecture there. I am shocked to know that huge number of students are clubbed together,” he said.

He further said that he will collect all the details about the functioning of these coaching centres and will not allow them to take parents and students for a ride.
