Cold wave conditions continued in the Kashmir Valley and the Ladakh region on Wednesday as minimum temperatures remained below the freezing point, resulting in frozen water bodies and water supply lines in several residential areas.

An official of the Met Department said that the weather conditions across the Valley would remain the same during the next 48 hours.

Kargil recorded the night’s lowest temperature at minus 15.0 degrees Celsius while neighbouring Leh recorded a minimum temperature of minus 8.9, Met office said.

Srinagar, the summer capital of the state recorded a low of minus 2.0 while the mercury in Qazigund in south Kashmir settled at a low of minus 3.4 degrees Celsius.

Gulmarg, the famous skiing resort in north Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 3.1 degrees Celsius.

The night temperature in Pahalgam – the famous health resort which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra – settled at a low of minus 4.9 degrees.

Kokernag town recorded a low of minus 3.2 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 4.6 degrees Celsius last night.

Jammu recorded a low of 7.8 degrees Celsius while Batote recorded 0.5, Banihal recorded 1.2, and Bhaderwah recorded minus 0.7 degree Celsius.
