Lauding bold initiatives taken jointly by Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) to strengthen relations between two regions, former MLC and senior leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ved Mahajan Wednesday emphasized on the need of taking some effective and concrete steps to strengthen unity and integration of the State.

He said, “steps taken by business community of both the regions would help in singling out divisive forces active in the State to create division among people.”

In a statement issued from Jammu, the PDP leader said, “KCCI and JCCI have taken very wise and bold decisions to jointly fight for the cause to business community of both the regions. Togetherness of business community of both the regions would frustrate evil designs of those divisive forces which are hell bent to create differences among different regions and sub-regions for their petty political gains.”

Mahajan observed and called upon Civil Society to encourage those forces, which are working to cement inter-regional relations. “It is duty of every citizen of the State to work for the unity and integrity of the State,” he said and cautioned the people against some forces which are trying to divide the people for petty gains.

Exhorting the people to strengthen hands of Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Mahajan said PDP-BJP coalition was committed for equitable and balanced development in the State.

Mahajan reiterated commitment of PDP to work as a cementing force to strengthen relations between two regions of the State and to remove the trust deficit. “Since its formation, PDP has been working as a bridge between two regions so that people of Jammu and Kashmir would jointly fight for their socio-economic growth,” he said.

He reminded that earlier PDP led regime had set an example of equitable and balanced development in Jammu and Kashmir. “Credit goes to the PDP led regime that first time after 1947all regions were treated equally in developmental and other activities,” he recalled and added that it was during the regime of PDP that serious efforts were made to empower all regions to remove the sense of inequality and discrimination. “Jammu and Ladakh regions were also involved in the decision making process” he recalled.
