After remaining out of touch with his family due to strict restrictions, Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani was allowed to talk to his family Tuesday evening.

Delhi police officials allowed Geelani to talk to his family for the first time after he was detained at his residence at Malviya Nagar, New Delhi on February 9, when Afzal Guru was hanged in Tihar jail.

“I talked to my ailing father and mother after 17 days, he seemed very weak and was not even able to talk much”, Naseem Geelani, Son of the veteran leader said while talking to Kashmir Life.

Naseem added that his father needs immediate medical treatment as he has been deprived of his basic routine which includes the prescribed daily long walk of one hour. Due to continuous house arrest he has developed many other ailments including chest and abdominal pain as well.

Naseem Geelani demanded the immediate release of his father so that he is brought to Srinagar and is looked after by his nears and dears.

Pertinently the Member of Parliament GN Ratanpuri had met home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and Ghulam Nabi Azad and raised the concern over the deteriorating health of the ailing veteran leader.
