Hurriyat Conference (G) while commenting over recent cabinet decision of compensation revision rates, each for payable to victims for loss of life during torture and rape in police custody said that it is highly shameful that instead of stopping these events and taking measures to prevent its forces from committing such heinous crime they have advertised rate like that of mutton dealers.

In a statement to KNS Hurriyat (G) spokesperson Ayaz Akbar said, “Though while Maharaja Gulab Singh  during bargaining in a deal had paid an amount, however it is very sad, offensive and sorrowful that Omar Abdullah government has fixed a price for their slaying and humiliation.”

“During the past 23 years in Jammu & Kashmir, Indian forces killed more than ten thousand people during custody and seven thousand five hundred women were either sexually assaulted or humiliated. Forces personnel involved in war crimes, instead of providing free hand should have been put to justice,” he added.

While terming compensation order as foolish he said that instead it was the need of hour that tough measures be formulated and keeping in view the gravity of crime personnel involved executed. “The cabinet decision has, however, provided free hand and permission to play with the honor of oppressed Kashmir’s,” he said and added army and para-military forces under the garb of Disturbed Act and AFSPA, enjoy impunity and “are licensed to kill or sexually assault women at their w
