SRINAGAR

State unit of Indian National Congress Thursday demanded holding of Islamabad Bi-Elections, ULB and Panchayat elections early in the State and accused the PDP-BJP Government for ensuring deferment of Bi-Elections.

Addressing the meeting of Congress members and office bearers of Srinagar today, MLC & Vice-President Gulam Nabi Monga criticized the Government for ensuring deferment of Anantnag bi-elections after sensing its defeat.

He said PDP is not in a position to face electorates because of its utter failure on all fronts.

Urging the Government to hold the ULB and Panchayat elections in the State, G N Monga said Government should strengthen the democratic Institutions as that will only strengthen the people from grass root level.

Expressing concern over confused policy of Govt in respect of ration and other essential commodities, G N Monga said that people should get the ration as per the family strength and urged upon the Administration to ensure adequate supply of sugar in view of the Shab-i-Mairaj in the State.

Congress has also urged upon the Government to ensure regular supply of Electricity and other essential services during the pious days of Shab-i-Mairaj.
