With assembly elections less than a month away, State Congress president Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz has camping in New Delhi to discuss the final list of its candidates for the polls with party high command.
Sources told KNS Soz and Congress Leader of Opposition in Rajjya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad had several round of meetings before finalizing the names of the party candidates for the polls in the last few weeks. “Now only the list has to be approved by the high command,” they added.
A senior Congress leader told KNS that the party is in hectic parleys to finalise the candidates for all the 87-constitencies in the state and the names will be announced within a few days.
The Election Commission of India Saturday decided to go ahead with holding Assembly polls in flood-devastated Jammu and Kashmir and announced a five-phased schedule between November 25 and December 20.
