SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police handed over conman Kiran Bhai Patel to Gujarat police on Friday, following a transfer warrant by the Ahmedabad Crime Branch in connection to a cheating case, media reports said.

As per an FIR registered with Sola police station in Ahmedabad, Patel cheated a Morbi-based businessman by posing as a Class-1 Government officer. Reports said that Kiran Patel took Rs 42.86 Lakh for Bharat Patel, a businessman from Gujrat, to help him get the clearances done. Bharat Patel Later found Kiran Patell was lying and filed a police case against him.

Meanwhile, Kiran Patel has been charged under Indian Penal Code Sections 420 (cheating), 406 (breach of trust), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 170 (impersonation).

This is the second time that Patel has been brought to Gujrat from JK through a transfer warrant and is the seventh FIR against Patel involving cheating  and fraud.

Pertinently, on March 16, Patel, 48, was arrested in Srinagar after he conned the J&K administration and acquired VVIP protocol and security while in Kashmir. He posed as an Additional Director (Strategy & Campaigns) Prime Minister’s Office and duped officials and civilians in Jammu and Kashmir.
