Construction of Bunkers Among Key Demands Raised During Mian Altaf’s Rajouri Visit

   

SRINAGAR: National Conference Member of Parliament from Anantnag-Rajouri, Mian Altaf Ahmad, on Monday visited several areas in Rajouri district affected by recent cross-border shelling. The visit was part of the second day of his tour to the border districts of Poonch and Rajouri.

According to a statement, Mian Altaf assessed the damage caused by shelling, met with affected residents, and visited Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri to inquire about the condition of the injured. He urged hospital authorities to ensure proper medical care for those undergoing treatment.

The MP also visited a relief camp in Nowshehra, where displaced families have taken shelter. He reiterated that “immediate relief and rehabilitation of affected families should be the government’s priority.” He further stated that the recent ceasefire had brought relief to the people in the area.

Mian Altaf demanded that the families of those who lost their lives be provided government jobs under SRO provisions, along with compensation and support for rebuilding their homes.

Residents during the visit raised the demand for construction of bunkers to ensure safety during future incidents. Mian Altaf assured that he would take up the issue with the government and personally follow up on the matter.
