Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, Tarigami said residents in border villages including Uri, Poonch, Rajouri and Kupwara have suffered damage due to shelling incidents. “These people have lived through fear, destruction, and loss. It is the government’s responsibility to ensure their safe return, provide adequate compensation, and rebuild their lives,” he said.

He called for thorough assessment of the damage to homes, crops, and livestock, and stressed on fair compensation to the affected. “In areas like Rajouri and Poonch, entire homes have been reduced to rubble. These families deserve a roof over their heads,” Tarigami said.

He also called for immediate relief for families who lost loved ones, demanding that government jobs be provided to the next of kin without delay. “The families need support to survive and rebuild,” he said.

Extending condolences to the bereaved families, Tarigami said, “We stand with every family that has suffered loss. Our solidarity is with them, and we will continue to raise their voice.”

He further appealed to the Government of India to assist the JK administration in delivering relief and support. “It is a time to stand with the people in their hour of grief and need,” he said.
