SRINAGAR: A police officer among two alleged drug peddlers were arrested in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday evening, officials said.

An official informed the news agency KS that a police team from Police Station Boniyar, led by SHO PS Boniyar and under the supervision of SDPO Uri, conducted a checkpoint operation at Boniyar, Baramulla. They intercepted two individuals identified as Sajad Hussain Qureshi, the son of Nazir Ahmad Qureshi, a resident of Bandi Uri, and Nadeem Ahmad Awan, the son of Mohd Hussain and a resident of Gingal Uri.

The officer stated that during the search, 48 grams of contraband substance, heroin, were discovered in their possession.

Consequently, a case under the relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Boniyar, and an investigation has been initiated.

“We urge the public that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime in your vicinity, please do not hesitate to contact the nearest police station or dial 112,” the officer further added. (KS)
