In an alleged assault by a J&K police constable, a vegetable vendor identified as Bashir Ahmed, son of Abdul Samad, resident of Nagni Gard Keshwan got injuries in his head after he refused to give him vegetables without being paid the money.

While talking to Kashmir Life, the victim Bashir Ahmed said that he was at his shop at Malipath Kishtwar when the accused cop identified by him as Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh, son of Abdul Latief Sheikh, resident of Malipath Kishtwar visited his shop on Friday and asked him to give the vegetables but refused to pay him.

He said that when asked him for money, “the police constable turned violent and attacked me”. “He threw iron weights at me as a result of which blood started oozing from my head.”

He said that some people and his friend took him to police station Kishtwar wherefrom he was referred to District Hospital Kishtwar.

“Police told me that they have registered an FIR against the police constable,” he said. “However, the accused constable is still at large and has not been arrested yet.”

He said that before escaping from the spot, “the accused constable threatened me.” “I fear for my life as the said constable who is yet to be arrested by the police.”
