SRINAGAR: Unidentified gunmen on Saturday attacked a police party in Frisal area of Yaripora in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, leaving one cop dead.
A police official said unidentified gunmen opened fire on cops in Frisal area of Yaripora.
He said one cop identified as Mohammad Amin was critically injured in the attack who later succumbed to his injuries.
Soon after the attack, a joint team of Army, Special Operations Group of the state police and CRPF have cordoned off the area and launched a hunt to nab the attackers, said the official.

Today at about 1720hrs militants fired indiscriminately upon joint naka party of Police & CRPF deployed at Main chowk Fressil in Yaripora area of Kulgam.
In the incident, one Police personnel identified as Head Constable Mohammad Amin Bagat sustained grievous gunshot injuries who later on succumbed to his injuries and attained martyrdom.
Police has registered a case under relevant sections of law in this regard. The investigation is in progress. Area has been cordoned and searches in the area is going on to nab the militants.
