SRINAGAR: A police officer was shot at and injured in a suspected militant attack in the Bemina area of Srinagar on Saturday evening, officials said.

Quoting an official, KNO reported that militants on Saturday late evening attacked a policeman identified as Mohammad Hafiz Chad, son of Ghulam Hassan Chad of Mathiya bund, Hamdaniya Colony, Srinagar. “The cop has received injury in the right arm and abdomen and has been shifted to hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, Kashmir Police Zone, in a post on X, formally Twitter, wrote: “Terrorists fired upon & injured one police personnel namely Mohammad Hafiz Chad S/O Gh Hassan Chad R/O #Bemina at Hamdaniya colony Bemina. He has been shifted to hospital for treatment. Area #cordoned off. Further details shall follow.”

Medical Superintendent JVC Srinagar, Dr Shifa Deva said that the condition of the injured is stable and he has been shifted to the Army’s 92 Base Hospital, Badmibagh, Srinagar for advanced treatment.

Meanwhile whole area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.
