SRINAGAR: Dr Rukhsar Saeed, a prominent food technologist hailing from Kashmir, has secured the second runner-up position in the latest season of MasterChef India. She emerged as the first contestant from Kashmir to participate in India’s renowned food reality show.

Rukhsar won accolades for her exceptional skills and determination during the gruelling audition process in June, making her way to the final 16 contestants.

The grand finale aired on Friday crowned Mohammad Ashiq of Mangalore as the winner of MasterChef India Season 8. Rukhsar secured the second runner-up slot and received a prize of Rs 5 lakh for her culinary prowess.

Notably, she showcased Kashmiri cuisines on a significant platform, earning praise from the judges for her efforts.

In her final creation, she presented a Brotherhood Platter, fusing flavours from both Muslim and Kashmiri Pandit traditions, symbolising culinary unity.

Rukhsar’s journey on MasterChef India Season 8 not only highlighted her culinary expertise but also showcased Kashmiri cuisine to a broader audience. Her impressive journey marks a milestone for Kashmiri’s representation in the culinary world, reinforcing the diverse flavours and traditions. She is a mother of two and is already running a successful business.
