Soon after the killing of three policemen in South Kashmir on Friday, at least six cops of Jammu and Kashmir police from south Kashmir have resigned from the service using social media.

Three policemen identified as SPO Umar Bashir Nengroo, son of Bashir Ahmad, a resident of Kapran Shopian, Nawaz Ahmed Lone, from Tengan in Kulgam, Shabir Ahmed Thoker, son of Ghulam Mohidin Thoker, a resident of Samnoo Kulgam, Tajaullah Hussain Lone, son of Abdul Wahab Lone, a resident of TawheedPora Batagund in Shopian, Irshad Ahmed Baba, a resident of Gangan in Shopian and SPO Naseer Ahmad, a resident of Wahibug Pulwama took to the social networking site Facebook and announced their resignations.

In a separate video, the said policemen were seen saying: “We are resigning by our own will, neither we are forced nor pressurized by anyone to do so.”

On Friday morning around 7:00 am, three policemen were abducted by the suspected militants and then the bullet-ridden bodies of the trio were spotted by the locals in Lamni-Wangam village adjacent to Kapran in Shopian.

However, there was no official confirmation regarding the resignations, the videos appeared on the social media and are being widely shared by the users.
