Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Monday expressed grief over the death of seven persons in a helicopter crash when they were flying to pay obeisance at the holy Mata Vaishnodevi Devi Shrine, near Katra.

The tragic accident happened when the chopper caught fire, killing six pilgrims and the lady pilot.

In his message of condolence, Mufti Sayeed expressed solidarity with the families of the deceased persons and prayed to Almighty to give them courage to bear this irreparable loss.

He also prayed for peace to the departed souls.

Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President and Member Parliament, Mehbooba Mufti expressed shock and grief over the tragic death of Vaishnov Devi pilgrims in a helicopter crash near Katra in Jammu today.

Mehbooba said she feels deep grief over the tragic death of the pilgrims in the crash and extends her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. She prayed for the peace to the departed souls.

She said chopper service providers, operating on various pilgrims and tourist destinations in J&K, should put in place an effective mechanism to avert such tragedies in future.
