Army’s Srinagar based spokesperson Monday evening issued a statement saying that it killed four militants in two different encounters in valley today.

The statement is produced here, verbatim:

“In a swift and surgical operation, Army and JKP today killed three militants in South Kashmir,” the statement said.

“Acting on a tip off regarding presence of some militants in village Silgam near Aishmuqam, a team of Rashtriya Rifles and JKP launched a swift operation. As the Army and JKP approached the suspect house, the militants came out firing indiscriminately,” the statement added, “exercising strict restraint to avoid any collateral damage to the civilians in the residential area, the Army engaged the three militants in a brief gun battle in which all three were eliminated. So far two AK 47 Rifles, one Pistol and a UBGL have been recovered.”

The spokesperson said, “search operation is underway.”

Earlier, the statement said, “in the on-going operations in Manigah Forest of Kupwara, North Kashmir, another militant was killed and war like stores recovered.”
