Jammu and Kashmir Police in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have arrested 11 persons for defying the prohibitory orders issued by the government to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus disease.

A police spokesman in a statement said, “Acting on specific information, Ganderbal Police have arrested 10 drivers and a shopkeeper found violating the Govt. orders issued u/s 144 CrPC. Police have also seized 10 tippers from the arrested drivers.”

“In this connection, cases vide FIR No. 08/2020 & FIR No. 19/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered at PS Kheer Bhawani, and PS Lar respectively,” he said.

“Ganderbal Police has once again requested the general public of District Ganderbal to follow the restrictions imposed by District Magistrate in order to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 and those who are violating the restrictions imposed will be dealt strictly,” said the spokesman.
