As a precautionary measure to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 outbreak, authorities in Baramulla district imposed complete lockdown wherein the movement of the general public has been strictly restricted. Shops and other business establishments remained closed while public transport remained off the roads.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo accompanied by CMO Baramulla inspected various quarantine centres and took stock of various arrangements put in place for detection of suspected cases.
Pertinent to mention that about 20 quarantine centres with the capacity of 800 beds have been established by the administration at several locations including Kunzer, Pattan, Baramulla and at other vital locations.
During the visit, the DC took a detailed review of various necessities and directed the concerned to put in place a viable mechanism besides mobilizing resources in this regard. He stressed upon the concerned authorities to work in coordination.
Appealing people to extend cooperation, the DC urged them to stay indoors as it is an only a viable alternative for securing themselves. He stressed to avoid any kind of gathering and said that maintaining social distance can largely help to combat the virus. He enlisted various initiatives taken by the administration in this regard.
