SRINAGAR: Three samples collected for Covid-19 diagnosis have tested positive at the Government Medical College led laboratory, official sources said. With this, the total number of positive cases from this particular laboratory has reached 46.

The hospital has collected 11 fresh samples for the tests on Wednesday, April 15. Now there are a total of 144 samples the results of which are awaited.

Officials said the three samples that tested positive had been collected from the JLNM Hospital in Rainawari.

Dr Bilquis Shah from the JLNM told Kashmir Life that samples of all the three patients tested positive were from her hospital.

“There is aged lady from Tengpora who is already admitted in the CD Hospital with apparently no history and source of infection,” Dr Shah said. “Today her daughter and law and her grand daughter were tested positive. Her granddaughter is a minor.”

Another positive case, the third one, is also a minor, a girl. “The girl who tested positive today is around six years of age and is a resident of Chattabal. She seems to have picked the infection from her cousin who lives in the old city and is already admitted in a hospital as a positive case,” Dr Shah said, “Interestingly the old city minor has picked the infection apparently from her father who returned from Kolkata but has tested negative to Covid-19.”

With the addition of three new patients, the total number of Covid-19 positive cases at JLNM has reached 28.

Dr Shah said that the history of the patients testing positive to Covid-19 is crucial. In case, there is no history, it adds to the worries for both managers and caregivers, she said.
