Coronavirus: Ladakh Leaders Seek Evacuation of Stranded Citizens

   

SRINAGAR: Two senior leaders of Ladakh society on Wednesday met the Lt Governor R K Mathur seeking early evacuation of the citizens of Ladakh UT stranded at various places.

An official spokesman of the UT said President Ladakh Gonpa Association (LGA), Geshe Shedup Chamba and President Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA), P T Kunzang met Mathur at Raj Niwas.

“The delegation thanked the UT Administration, Hill Council, Health and Police Department for their efforts in mitigating the threat of Covid-19 in the region. They assured full support in educating people about the pandemic and help in providing other requirements in future,” the spokesman said.

The delegation also raised the issue of stranded patients and pilgrims outside Ladakh and urged the administration for early evacuation as per the guidelines of Government of India. They also appreciated the launch of Ladakh Connect website and facilitating the Ladakhis staying outside to be in direct touch with the Administration.
