Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday said it seized 36 vehicles for defying government orders in south Kashmir’s Awantipora town of Pulwama district.

A police spokesman in a statement said, “Acting tough against the violators of Government prohibitory orders, Awantipora Police have seized 36 vehicles for defying the restriction orders.”

“In the jurisdiction of PS Awantipora, Police have seized 12 vehicles for violating the Govt prohibitory orders issued by the District Magistrate u/s 144 CrPC. In the jurisdiction of PS Pampore, Police have seized 04 vehicles for the violation of the government prohibitory orders,” said the spokesman.

“While in the jurisdictions of PS Tral and PS Khrew, Police have seized 06 vehicles and 14 vehicles respectively for violating the government prohibitory orders,” he said.

“Awantipora Police have requested the general public to follow the restrictions imposed by Government in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19,” said a police spokesman in a statement.
