Continuing its efforts to avert any eventuality that may emerge due to COVID-19 outbreak, Deputy Commissioner (DC)Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo on Saturday visited Sub District Hospital (SDH)Sopore to take the first-hand appraisal of various arrangements put in place to control the spread of Coronavirus.

On the occasion, DC took a detailed review of various measures taken to contain the spread of Coronavirus. He was briefed by the hospital authorities on various precautionary measures that been taken to deal with any exigency.

Directing the concerned authorities to act in an efficient manner, DC stressed for remaining vigilant and said that any kind of laxity on this count won’t be tolerated. He directed the concerned to put in place a viable mechanism so that any kind of emergency is tackled smoothly.

The DC informed that a quarantine centre will be established in the hospital for the larger public interest. Besides, separate OPDs have been established at every health institution will help to segregate the COVID 19 suspected patients and other ones, he added.

He further said that all the shops and other business establishments shall remain closed from today for which necessary order has been issued. However, he said that the order shall not apply to the medical shops.

The DC said that adequate measures have been taken by the administration with regard to the prevention of COVID-19 spread which includes the deployment of medical teams for thermal screening at various locations, the imposition of section 144 CrPC, the constitution of surveillance teams at various levels, the establishment of control rooms with round the clock helpline numbers and ban on public transport.

He appealed the people of the district to avoid unnecessary travel and gatherings. He said that is the best precaution to stay at home in the present circumstances.
