The number of Covid-19 patients in Jammu and Kashmir rose to 976 on Thursday, after five more patients tested positive for the dreaded virus.

An official told Kashmir Life that 5 persons have been tested positive for COVID19 at the SKIMS laboratory.

“Of the 5 new cases, two are from Shopian, one each from Pulwama, Srinagar and Jammu districts,” he said. “We are in the process of getting the details of the individuals.”

At SKIMS, 3619 samples were tested in one day, the highest till date for any lab in J&K, he said.

He added that 521 samples have tested positive and 24701 samples have tested negative at SKIMS till date.

No sample had tested positive at CD Hospital lab till this report was filed while 145 samples were being processed. Dr S Saleem Khan, nodal officer for COVID19 at GMC Srinagar said a total of 748 tests had been carried out but all were negative for COVID19.

As of now, J&K has reported 976 cases, out of which 879 were in Kashmir and 97 in Jammu. Eleven have died, while 466 recovered. More than 100683 people have been kept under surveillance.
