SRINAGAR: Doing his bit to aid the combat against Coronavirus, a 14-year-old boy from Jammu, Onkar Singh Batra has come up with an interactive website, Covid Care Jammu, combat Covid-19 with a smile for people in Jammu. Aimed at providing a platform to discuss issues related to the mutating virus, the website is an attempt to help solve the crisis.

Jammu Student, Onkar Singh, with the President of India, Ram Nath Govind. Singh has created an interactive website for Covid-19 in Jammu.

Student of class 10th at BSF Senior Secondary School, Onkar, who is also CEO Batra Technologies, has developed the Covid care website in partnership with the volunteer of doctors from the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu. This as per the website has been done to provide medical facilities to the users who visit the website and seek help. The users can connect to doctors directly with users through Online chat services of the website and can discuss various virus related issues.

Powered by Engati Chat Robot and sourced from Apollo Hospital, the website also offers a portal to self-test through its Covid Self Risk Assessment (SRA) to check the chances of being Corona infected.  It also offers an initiative named Talaash COVID-19, using which people can report symptoms of the infection in themselves or someone nearby. Once a user reports their symptoms and seems to be infected, a medical team will then contact the user accordingly. The website also offers an ambulance facility. But as the self-assessment feature is accessible by people across the country, reporting of cases and calling of an ambulance is currently available only in Jammu.

Given the easy interface, one doctor can connect with around 50 people at a time, claims Onkar while talking about the website. It has also the mobile version.

Appreciating the efforts of the boy, Jammu Kashmir Startups Association (JKSA) wrote on its twitter handle, “Humans can be #lockeddown but #Entrepreneurs unlock many opportunities despite all challenges! #Jammu lad #OnkarSingh, a 10th student from BSF Sr SecSchool, Jammu, has created a website covidcarejammu.in for the Jammu to combat with Coronavirus in an online way.” JKSA is also the Entrepreneurial Promotion & Networking partner of the website.

The website also has a segment of the Covid care Jammu- Whatsapp community. This has been started to have the latest updates on the disease. Besides, it has a Live Corona Tracker (LCT). This is to provide a live tracker facility for Covid-19 cases in India as well as globally, both map wise and state wise.

This is not the first time Onkar is in the news, a triple world record holder, he first made it to the Guinness Book of World Records at an age of seven, for being the ‘World’s Youngest Webmaster (male)’ after building his first website. He also holds a world record for being the Youngest EMF Researcher in the world recently, and he also became the World’s Youngest Theoretical author at the age of 12 after publishing his book ‘When The Time Stops.’

Onkar who will be appearing for board examinations next year has founded two companies,  Batra Technologies in 2018 and United India Publishing in 2019. He also received the ‘Bal Shakti Puraskar’ (National Child Award) from the President of India Ram Nath Kovind in January this year.

Appreciated across, he developed the website within 17 hours. The only hitch, this young boy faced during developing the website was slow internet. “Had the 4G network been made available in our state, I could have built it in five to six hours,” he said.

Besides facing a hurdle in developing the website, Onkar had said slow internet is disturbing the online classes as well. “The lack of 4G availability in the region has resulted in slower Zoom classes with network disturbances,” he said.
