SRINAGAR: A 65-year old woman from Kulgam district died at SMHS hospital Srinagar on Thursday, his sample testing positive for COVID19 posthumously.

A woman from Bugam area of Kulgam was admitted in SMHS Hospital Srinagar on May 22, 2020, with bilateral pneumonia, Dr Salim Khan nodal officer COVID-19 at GMC Srinagar said.

He said the patient died next day and the body of the deceased had been kept in the mortuary of the GMC Srinagar till the report of the sample was available.

The sample of the woman tested positive today and the district administration Kulgam has been informed accordingly, Dr Khan said.

With his death, the number of casualties due to the novel Coronavirus has reached 23 in J&K. Earlier, 22 patients have died due to COVID-19 including 19 from Kashmir and three from Jammu.
