Coronavirus: Medicos Suggest People Avoid Visiting Hospitals, Unless It Is A Dire Need

SRINAGAR: For the last many days, the doctors managing the main health facilities across Jammu and Kashmir have been suggesting people to avoid visiting the hospitals unless they are in dire and serious need of medical advice. This, they said it vital to restricting the infection from the Coronavirus that has jammed the world.

“Prevention is better than cure” doctors routinely advise, insisting that crowding is a key to the spread of the virus infection. Restriction movement and social distancing is the main reason, they assert.

In order to send the message faster and better a group of doctors assembled in a hospital ward of the district hospital Kupwara and click a photograph with handwritten messages in their hands. “Stay at home and help us please”, one message says.

A senior Doctor at Sher – i – Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences Soura Dr Parvaiz Koul also urged people to avoid visiting hospitals and unnecessary stretching of facilities.

Taking to social networking site Twitter, Dr Parvaiz Koul wrote: “Avoid visiting hospitals and unnecessary stretching of facilities. Stay home as far as possible and practise routine hygiene measures (cough etiquette, hand wash, social distancing). Avoid crowds..no mubarak or taziyat (phone call should do). Seems we are in for a long haul.”

Officials said that though the footfalls in the hospitals have gone drastically down, it still is in good numbers. Crowding has the potential of helping the virus spread fast. Major government offices in including the civil secretariat at Jammu have restricted access for people. Srinagar Municipal Corporation has closed down its offices already. Schools have already been closed.

These were the keys reason why authorities ordered the closure of public transport, one of the major factors for virus spread. All these actions are preventive. The Coronavirus infection has not any cure so far.
