Police Wednesday registered a case against the teacher of private school in Islamabad district of south Kashmir for beating a class 7th student to pulp.

Police sources told local news agency CNS that Ahmed Tihame son of Mohammad Salim Shah resident of Mominabad who studies in class 7th at Radiant Public School was beaten by his Computer teacher Mohammad Salim Baba from Kulgam.

“We were making slight fun of each other when the said teacher entered into the class and took every student to task. He beat Ahmed ruthlessly and he fainted in the class,” one of the students told CNS.

The parents of Ahmed lodged a formal complaint in police station Saddar and according police registered a case vide FIR number 163/2013 under section 323 and 321 against the erring teacher.

“My son was already having a fracture in one of his arms and the teacher by resorting to corporal punishment fractured his other arm completely,” his father Mohammad Salim said.

Director Education Kashmir, Mir Tariq said that strict action will be initiated against those teachers in future who beat students physically. “Corporal punishment is not allowed in schools and teachers must restrain themselves,” he said.
