SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have started hunting for the motive in a joint suicide attempt by a couple in which the wife lost her life and the husband is critical. The distressing turn of events in Rayor village of Samba District has sent shock waves in the bet.

According to preliminary reports, the fateful morning bore witness to a grim discovery by concerned neighbours who stumbled upon the couple in their residence, both in an unconscious state. Alarmed by the distressing sight, they promptly alerted the local public representative, who, in turn, swiftly brought the matter to the attention of the police.

The Samba police, acting promptly upon receiving the distress call, rushed to the scene and promptly transported the ailing couple to the District Hospital in Samba. Upon arrival at the hospital, the medical team declared the wife, identified as 30-year-old Babbu Devi, as brought dead. Her husband, Sinka Ram, 34, son of Tara Ram, remained in a critical condition, necessitating immediate referral to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Jammu after initial first aid.

As the community grapples with the shock of this sudden tragedy, the deceased woman’s body has been placed in the mortuary at the District Hospital Samba, where a post-mortem examination is expected to shed light on the circumstances of her untimely demise.

The Samba police have launched a comprehensive investigation to uncover the motivations behind this extreme step taken by the couple. A case has been registered under Section 174 as they leave no stone unturned in the quest for answers, seeking to bring closure to this deeply distressing incident that has left the entire village in Rayor reeling with grief.
