SRINAGAR: A local court in Srinagar has convicted Irfan Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Daribal, Ganderbal, for theft at Jamia Masjid Nowhatta under Section 303(2) BNS.
A police spokesperson said, “The conviction was made in case FIR No. 04/2025, registered at Nowhatta Police Station.”
“The theft was reported on January 18, when the Awkaf Jamia Committee lodged a complaint regarding cash stolen from the mosque’s donation box. Following the complaint, Srinagar Police launched an investigation, identified the accused, and arrested him.”
The police subsequently filed a charge sheet within the stipulated time.
The court sentenced Sheikh to a fine of Rs 500 and imprisonment until the rising of the court.
