In his keynote address, Lieutenant Governor Sinha emphasised the role of ethics, values, and national identity in education, stating that they are essential for the welfare of society and nation-building. He underscored the importance of moral consciousness in students and highlighted the need for integrating life values such as compassion, peace, and harmony into their learning journey.

“The National Education Policy 2020 aims to make students a living source of knowledge rather than a mere storehouse of memorised information,” he said, adding that the policy promotes creative imagination, ethical values, and determination to build an equitable and inclusive society.

The Lieutenant Governor urged educational institutions to focus on developing well-rounded personalities that blend compassion and innovation. He stressed the importance of the ‘Three H’ approach—Head, Heart, and Heritage—to restore moral integrity within the education system. He noted that students should not only excel in their chosen fields but also remain connected to their roots and social responsibilities.

Sinha also highlighted the necessity of integrating moral values with modern skills to nurture strong character and intellectual curiosity. He emphasised the need for interactive classroom discussions over monologues and called for linking innovation and growth with ethical principles in the curriculum. He advocated for experiential and project-based learning to expose students to real-world challenges.

Speaking on educational reforms in Jammu and Kashmir, the Lieutenant Governor credited the initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for fostering inclusive and quality education in the region. He noted that efforts have been made to provide multidisciplinary learning and skill development opportunities. Programmes such as Mission Yuva are actively working to encourage entrepreneurship at the college and university levels.

He pointed out that schools, colleges, and universities in Jammu and Kashmir are now functioning without disruptions, with past practices such as strikes and stone-pelting no longer hindering education. “J&K is now moving towards a brighter and more prosperous future,” he said.

During the event, several prominent personalities and institutions were honoured with the Bharat Shiksha Samman for their contributions to education. Notable attendees included Shri Naveen Jindal, Member of Parliament, Dr Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General of the Association of Indian Universities, and Ms Rajshri Rai, Chairperson of the Balaji Foundation.
