The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has quashed the detention of a 7 Kashmiri youths under controversial Public Safety Act (PSA).

All these youths according to their counsel Bashir Ahmed Tak have been languishing either in Kot Balwal Jail or Udhampur Jail. “The detention of these youth under PSA was quashed by Justice Muhammad Yaqoob and Justice Muzaffar Hussain Atthar,” Tak told local news agency CNS adding that these youth had been arrested by Jammu Kashmir Police on charges of stone-pelting during the ongoing unrest.

He identified these youth as Bilal Ahmed Tantray, Mehrajuddin Tantray, Bilal Ahmed Tantray all residents of Matraypora Kralapora Bandipora, Tariq Ahmed Panzoo from Ward 5 Baramulla, Nazir Ahmed Pir from Qazibagh Baramulla and Umar Raqeeb from Aloochibagh Srinagar. “The court also quashed the detention of Beerwah youth Javaid Ahmed Wani,” he added.
