The sessions Court at Kupwara on Wednesday recorded the statement of director Forensic laboratory J&K and a senior scientific officer with the lab in connection with the Tabinda Ghani rape and murder case. According to a local news agency, KNS reporter the director FSL Hari Chand Bhagat identified the belongings of the accused that were recovered by Police from the site of offence on July 24 2007.

Bhagat has identified the slippers, shoes and the hair clip and later he has informed court that all the belongings were matching with the clay module that was collected by FSL from the scene of crime.

Meanwhile the court also recorded the statement of the senior scientific officer with FSL Srinagar Shabir Ahmad Yessi who reveled that the liquor bottle recovered from the scene had 390 ml of methyl alcohol. Both the officers were cross examined by the defense council Adv. Mohammed Maqbool. The sources in the court told KNS that 86 witnesses out of total 88 have now recorded their statements whereas one more sub inspector Abdul Ahad has been asked to appear before the court on June 19 to record his statement. Abdul Ahad was the member of the police team that had taken up the investigation soon after the crime.

Earlier the Chandigarh based FSL had confirmed the involvement of all the four accused currently in police custody in the rape and murder case.

Senior DNA expert of FSL Chandigarh, Dr Sanjeeve had revealed in the previous hearing that the blood samples collected from the clothes of the deceased during the post-mortem matched the DNA of all the four accused against whom the trial is on.

 The case under FIR No. 152/20-07-2007 was lodged against Azhar Mir S/o Gul Mir R/O Langeth, Sadiq Mir, Suresh Mochi R/o Rajasthan, and Jahangir Bihari R/o west Bengal under sections 363/369/302/376-B. All the accused have been booked in connection with rape and murder of an 8th class student, Tabinda Gani in July 2007.
