SRINAGAR: The Principal District Court of Pulwama has issued summons to Aakash Coaching Institute, Rajbagh, Srinagar, in a defamation suit filed by Solace International School, Pulwama, represented by its chairman Waseem Hanief.
The institute is directed to appear on February 27, 2026, at 11:00 am, either in person or through a pleader capable of addressing all material questions.
The suit stems from alleged false claims by Aakash Coaching Institute, which reportedly took credit for a Class 10 Board topper in the Kashmir Division, a student of Solace International School, who achieved 100 percent marks under Solace faculty guidance. Court records confirm that the student joined Aakash only after the results, for Class 11 coaching, and played no role in the Class 10 achievement.
The complaint alleges academic piracy, misrepresentation, unfair trade practice, and damage to institutional goodwill, accusing the defendant of misleading parents, students, and the public for commercial gain. Solace International School is seeking Rs 10 crore in damages, a permanent injunction against false academic claims, and a public apology and clarification across newspapers and social media.
A legal notice dated January 16, 2026, had been served earlier, and alleged non-compliance prompted the court action. Failure to appear may result in the case being heard and determined in the defendant’s absence. Witnesses can be summoned, and documents compelled if necessary.
The case is pending before Principal District Judge Malik Shabir Ahmad, Pulwama. Updates are available on ecourts.gov.in or via the “eCourts Services” mobile app.
