SRINAGAR: India registered 37,875 new cases in the last 24 hours, taking the country’s overall coronavirus tally to 3,30,96,718. India also reported 369 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare early Wednesday.

Kerala is among the top five states which have registered the maximum number of Covid-19 cases. The state reported 25,772 new Covid-19 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 3,898 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,544 cases, Mizoram with 1,214 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 1,178 cases.

As many as 88.73 per cent of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 68.04 per cent of the new cases.

Also, India’s active caseload declined by 1,608 in the past 24 hours, bringing total active cases to 3,91,256.

Besides, 369 more people succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours, increasing the total reported death count to 4,41,411. The maximum casualties were reported in Kerala (189), followed by Maharashtra with 86 daily deaths.

With fresh recoveries, India’s recovery rate now stands at 97.48 per cent even as a total of 39,114 patients recovered in the last 24 hours.

India has administered 78,47,625 doses in the last 24 hours, bringing the total tally of doses administered in the country to 70,75,43,018.

So far, the Centre has provided more than 70.31 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses to states and union territories. Over 5.64 crore balance and unutilized vaccine doses are still available with states/UTs with more than 8 lakh doses in pipeline, the government said.
