SRINAGAR: The district administration in Srinagar has decided to conduct COVID-19 rapid antigen testing of residents at vulnerable clusters across the district.

An official statement said that the rapid antigen testing or RAT will be conducted in government offices and banks as well as markets and establishments of service providers among others. The testing will be conducted as per a devised schedule.

Targeted areas and localities and offices and establishments have been identified and dates on which sampling will be done fixed. The teams of doctor and technicians which will conduct the testing have also been identified said the statement.

Concerned Tehsildars have been made responsible to ensure sampling and testing of all those targeted. SDMs and SDPOs concerned will supervise the exercise to ensure thorough implementation, it said.

The Chief Medical Officer Srinagar – under whose supervision the testing will be conducted – will make sufficient quantities of rapid antigen testing kits available as per plan devised as part of this measure aimed at containing the spread of COVID-19 in the district.

Under this measure, all staff members of all offices will have to undergo the rapid antigen testing for COVID-19 with each head of an office to be responsible for ensuring strict compliance.

The entry of staff members to their respective offices will be subject to a negative test report which will be valid for two weeks. Each office will have to send their test reports to the DC Office the aim being to ensure strict compliance, an official statement said.
