SRINAGAR: The University of Kashmir said the examination for the selection of ARs and JAs was cancelled because of Covid-19 and not any malpractice.

“The exam has been cancelled only because the whole process was required to be completed in 2 years,” a senior officer, privy of the development said. “The same couldn’t be done because of the obvious reasons of COVID and subsequent directions from the Government not to conduct any offline examination. This exam was to be conducted for 6000 applicants and during COVID days it was next to impossible.”

The officer said that the incumbent Vice Chancellor submitted a proposal to Raj Bhawan with two options. “One to grant an extension in the life of advertisement and the other to allow us to re-advertise,” the officer said. “The Lt Governor approved the second option.” He said there was “no question of any malpractice as the earlier process was most transparent.”
