SRINAGAR: A day after the symbolic unlocking of markets after more than a month, Jammu and Kashmir is seeing a shift in the numbers. There were 32  deaths reported across 20 districts of the erstwhile state. During the last 24 hours, 1895 fresh infections were reported, mostly from Kashmir.

Kashmir lost 15 citizens and Jammu 17 in the last 24 hours. Jammu city’s Covid19 casualties reached 1076, the highest in the 20 districts.

But what is rarely being seen is that more people return home from hospitals fully recovered than the new tally of infections. In the last 24 hours, as many as 3682 people recovered thus reducing the number of active cases to 33276. The recoveries included 1448 cases in Jammu and 2234 in Kashmir.

Now the death toll of Covid19 in Jammu and Kashmir is 3939 including 2014 in Kashmir and 1925 in Jammu.

As many as nine deaths took place in Jammu city and six in Srinagar city, the information revealed by the government said.

The district-wise details suggest that Kashmir lost three citizens in Kupwara, two each in Pulwama and Kulgam, and one each in Anantnag and Bandipora.

Apart from nine deaths reported from Jammu city, the region lost two citizens each in Rajouri and Udhampur, and one each in Doda, Poonch, Reasi and Samba.

In the last 24 hours, officials said 1895 new Covid-19 positives were reported from across Jammu and Kashmir. Of them, Srinagar alone accounted for 304. Jammu, the other capital of the erstwhile state reported 218 cases.

Of the new cases detected in the last 24 hours, Kashmir accounts for 1262 cases against 633 of the Jammu division.

In Kashmir, the new cases include 161 from Baramulla, 181 from Budgam, 185 from Pulwama, 141 from Kupwara, 85 from Anantnag, 52 from Bandipora, 61 from Ganderbal, 66 from Kulgam, and 26 from Shopian.

From Jammu, officials said Udhampur reported 52, Rajouri 64, Doda 73, Kathua 50, Samba 45, Kishtwar 24, Poonch 60, Ramban 39, and Reasi 8.

Right now, Jammu and Kashmir has 21047 active cases, which includes 23320 in Kashmir 12229 in Jammu.
